The basic security officer course was first offered in December 2141, with a cadre class completing the first course two months later. Similar in nature to Security Guard rate training (with the same required elements), the officer version of the course provides leadership and management training for Security officers as well as qualifications in all major security postings as per the Starfleet Security Manual.
