STARFLEET SECURITY

The Office of Starfleet Security was founded in the spring of 2137 in order to provide a security force for Starfleet Headquarters. The initial membership of Starfleet Security comprised fourteen members of Military Assault Command Operations (MACO) who were granted transfers into Starfleet per Starfleet Administration Order #15. The first Director of Starfleet Security was Commander Ryan Lyndon who had previously served as a Brigadier General in the MACO and was recruited to form Starfleet Security by the Chief of Starfleet Operations, then Commodore Thomas Nelson.

The original Office of Starfleet Security was briefly located at UESPA headquarters before relocating to Starfleet Headquarters, along with all other Earth Starfleet offices, in the summer of 2137. By the end of 2139, the office had been expanded considerably, with the Director of Starfleet Security promoted from Commander to Captain. In July 2143, per the directive of Starfleet Command Order #3, membership in the Office of Starfleet Security was opened to the general public and the name of the branch was changed to simply "Starfleet Security".

STARFLEET TRAINING STATION ALICE SPRINGS
In November 2141, Starfleet signed a fifteen-year contract with the government of Australia, a nation not a member of the United Earth, for access to an Australian military post in the Outback city of Alice Springs. The agreement specified that Starfleet would establish a presence of security personnel in order to open a Starfleet Security Training Station to instruct in security specific training courses. Routine upkeep and maintenance, as well as external security, would be provided through a contractual agreement with the Australian armed forces. The first Starfleet personnel reported to Alice Springs on November 13, 2141.
