STARFLEET COURSE CATALOG

All Starfleet training is administered primarily at the Starfleet Training Center in San Francsico, California while a smaller facility is maintained at the Starfleet Training Station in Alice Springs, Australia for security training.  Engineering personnel are trained at the Starfleet Engineering Complex's School of Engineering.  Starfleet Training Directive #3 further authorizes Starfleet personnel to receive sidearm-weapons training at approved MACO facilities in addition to standard Starfleet firing qualification ranges.

STARFLEET CREWMAN SCHOOL

The Starfleet Crewman School was opened in October 2139 for the purpose of offering basic Starfleet training to civilians wishing to join Starfleet.  An administration course for Yeoman was added in March 2141.

STARFLEET OFFICER SCHOOL

Starfleet Officer School was formally opened in April 2140 in accordance with Starfleet Operations Order #42, primarily to train officer candidates.  In June 2140, the school also began offering a direct appointment familiarization course for officers who had been appointed before the creation of the officer candidate course.

STARFLEET SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING

The Starfleet School of Engineering was opened in June 2144 at the Zephram Cochrane Spaceflight Center, following an expansion Starfleet Engineering and the need to train Starfleet personnel in both shipyard management and warp reactor operations.

STARFLEET TRAINING STATION ALICE SPRINGS

The Starfleet Training Station at Alice Spring was opened in November 2141 to provide advanced security training for Starfleet personnel who served as either Security Officers or Security Guards.  The initial security training courses were first offered a month later in December 2141.

STARFLEET OPERATIONS COLLEGE

The Starfleet Operations College was established in July 2145, initially in order to train Starfleet crewmen assigned to the rate of Gunner's Mate in starship deployed space weaponry.  Course curriculum was developed in the first weeks after the school opened, with the first courses scheduled to take place in October 2145; this was delayed to November 2145, when the first class of the Starfleet Gunnery Course was assembled.

CORRESPONDENCE COURSES

Starfleet correspondence courses are training and education programs which may be completed by Starfleet members remotely, following a self-paced training curriculum, and then submitted for completion to the appropriate training authority.  Correspondence courses were first offered in the summer of 2146.

SAFETY OFFICER

COURSE

Available to commissioned officers.  Upon completion, qualification is obtained as a Safety Officer

HAZARDOUS MATERIAL DISPOSAL PROCEDURES

Provides instruction and education for the disposal of hazardous material (Hazmat) in a space based environment

RECRUITING STANDARDS COURSE

Required correspondence course for all Starfleet members assigned as recruiters

STARFLEET CROSS TRAINING PROGRAM

The Starfleet Cross Training Program was established in January 2143 per Starfleet Training Order #15, the purpose being to offer additional training to Starfleet personnel from the training programs of UESPA and MACO.  Courses less than 12 weeks may be authorized as temporary duty while longer courses require a detached duty request.

UESPA Courses

EVA & AIRLOCK TRAINING

A ten-week training course covering the basics of extra-vehicular activity (EVA) space operations.  Upon completion, the student will be qualified to perform EVA operations with certification in the operation of an EVA space suit. Offered by UESPA at Lunaport Training Facility.  The course was expanded from eight to ten weeks in December 2146 to provide airlock operation certification.

AUXILIARY SPACECRAFT OPERATIONS

A twelve-week training course held at the Starfleet Shipyard, covering the basics in operating dockyard auxiliary spacecraft.  Upon completion of a final certification examination, the student will be certified to operate a shipyard inspection pod and dockyard maintenance craft.

GENERAL SPACEFLIGHT TRAINING

An abbreviated flight school ten-month course held at Lunaport, primarily for Starfleet Flight Officers slated for service on Starfleet's new starships and who previously served in the Earth Cargo Service.  The course certifies flight officers to pilot basic warp craft and provides additional instruction concerning flight operations and warp craft capabilities.

SHIPYARD FAMILIARIZATION TRAINING

MACO Courses

A five-month course designed to provide Starfleet Engineering personnel with essential skills to serve in orbital shipyards.  The course is open to Crewman in the rating of Engineer's Mate as well as all Starfleet Engineering Officers.  Crewmen receive instruction as Spaceship Fitters and Space Welders, while officers are trained for the successfully passing of the Dock Officer's Certification Test and Port Engineer's Examination.  The course may also be combined with additional training resulting in EVA certification as well as an Auxiliary Spacecraft License to operate Shipyard Inspection Pods.

ADVANCED EVA TRAINING

(Omega Training)

A six-week advanced EVA training course, commonly known as the "Omega Training Course".  The course offers instruction covering extra-vehicular activities in adverse and hostile environmental conditions. The training is conducted by MACO personnel at the Omega Training Facility on Titan

ADVANCED WEAPONS INSTRUCTION

MICO Courses

A three-week course held at the MACO Barracks in San Francisco, designed to instruct Starfleet personnel in the use of MACO tactical and small arms weaponry to include the MACO assault rifle paired with the use of stun grenades and baton to incapacitate opponents.  Training also focuses on small team tactics, field weapons repair, as well as range practice on standard Starfleet issued weapons such as the pulse pistol and plasma rifle

MILITARY COVERT INTELLIGENCE COURSE

First offered to personnel of Starfleet Intelligence in 2147, the 60-week course is the standard intelligence officer core training used by intelligence agents assigned to Military Covert Intelligence Operations.  The course is offered to Starfleet as cross training instruction on detached duty status.

XENOLINGUISTIC PATTERN ANALYSIS

A six-month course designed to interpret alien languages and communication signals in order to determine intelligence, intent, or threat. Students are taught the fundamentals of signal and symbol theory, comparative cognition algorithms, and the operation of non-human intelligences such as cetaceans and the theoretical models of hive minds. The second portion of the course focuses on Adversarial Deception, creating synthetic communication signals designed to mislead, with the course concluding in Operational Application through a series of signal and communication laboratory exercises that mirror real-world intelligence-gathering and communications scenarios.

CRYPTOLOGICAL ENCRYPTION COURSE

A five-month course designed to study the design, application, compromise detection, and operational employment of cryptographic systems. The first three weeks focus on the fundamentals of military cryptology, followed by instruction in signals theory, key management, and systems implementation. The majority of the course then concentrates on advanced cryptographic systems and decoding matrix analysis. The final portion of the course addresses cryptologic warfare and deception, culminating in a comprehensive field exercise in which students integrate all instruction into a single operational cryptographic scenario.

DISCONTINUED COURSES

Starfleet General Rate Training (3 weeks)

Starfleet General Rate Training was established as a three-week course in January 2142 per Starfleet Training Directive #19.  The general rate training course served as a follow-on to Basic Training prior to assignment of a Starfleet rating.  Starfleet Recruits were promoted to Crewman prior to rate assignment; however, in May 2142, the course was combined with Starfleet Basic Training and the General Rate Training course discontinued.

Starfleet Administrative Policies and Procedures (3 weeks)

First established in March 2141, this three-week course was designed for Starfleet personnel assigned to the rate of Yeoman and officers holding administrative billets.  The course reviewed Starfleet regulations, orders and policies, as well as administrative bureaucratic procedures.  Originally both officers and crewman were combined into single training classes; this was changed in May 2142 when the course was discontinued and divided into two new training courses independently for officers and enlisted personnel.
