The Basic Shipyard Operations Course was created in the fall of 2148 following Starfleet assumption of shipyard training from the United Earth Space Probe Agency. The course is required for all Starfleet Crewman directly involved with starship construction and covers the basics of shipyard operation, starship assembly procedures, safety and maintenance requirements, as well as equipment inventories. Upon completion, Starfleet Crewman are certified to hold basic qualification as a spaceship fitter and are authorized to perform duties within an active shipyard.
