STARFLEET ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
​Membership in Starfleet is available to all citizens of the United Earth. The general public may join Starfleet either through general enlistment as a Crewman or by obtaining a commission through Starfleet Officer Candidate School. Starfleet also accepts direct appointment applications from personnel of the United Earth Space Probe Agency, the Earth Cargo Service, and the Military Assault Command Operations. All Starfleet applicants are required to pass a standard medical examination, qualify for a basic Starfleet security clearance, as well as pass an appropriate entrance examination.​
CREWMAN ENLISTMENTS
​General six years enlistments as a Starfleet Crewman are open to all citizens of the United Earth. Applications for enlistment are processed by Starfleet Recruiting either through local recruiting offices or onsite at the Starfleet Induction Center.
Basic Entrance Requirement:
United Earth citizen greater than 18 years of age with a completed secondary school education.
​Preferred Requirements
​Completion of an Associate's Degree or higher at an accredited university

Applicants must pass a standard medical examination, qualify for a basic Starfleet security clearance, and complete the Starfleet Crewman Entrance Test (SCET).
OFFICER APPLICATIONS
Starfleet officer candidates must pass a standard medical examination, qualify for a basic Starfleet security clearance, and complete the Starfleet Officer Aptitude Test (SOAT). Applications for officer training from the general public were first accepted in May 2143 with the first civilian class at Officer Candidate School scheduled for that August. Prior to this time, officer applications were only accepted from prior service personnel of UESPA, the ECS, and MACO.
Basic Entrance Requirement:
United Earth citizen greater than 18 years of age with a completed university education degree.
​Preferred Requirements
​Commission as a Starfleet Science Officer requires a Master's or Doctorate scientific degree while commission as a Medical Officer requires completion of a medical degree from an accredited medical college.

Applicants must pass a standard medical examination, qualify for a basic Starfleet security clearance, and complete the Starfleet Officer Aptitude Test (SOAT).
PRIOR SERVICE APPLICATIONS
Personnel of the United Earth Space Probe Agency, the Earth Cargo Service or the Military Assault Command Operations may apply to join Starfleet as through regular recruitment procedures or through appointment by direct commission through application to the Chief of Starfleet Recruiting. All prior service personnel must meet the same entrance criteria as regular applicant; direct appointment to advanced rank are approved by the Chief of Starfleet Administration.
UESPA APPLICATIONS
Basic Entrance Requirement:
Current or prior member of the United Earth Space Probe Agency
​Preferred Requirements
Completion of the Space Flight Certification Course (UESPA Flight School)
​​Additional Information
Applications will be accepted from all UESPA personnel with preferred applications from senior UESPA personnel as well as personnel who have completed flight school and are qualified to serve or have performed duty onboard UESPA warp capable space vessels.
EARTH CARGO SERVICE
Basic Entrance Requirement:
Active or former officer or crew member of the Earth Cargo Service​
​Preferred Requirements
Space Merchant Officer License and/or a warp craft pilot certification

Advanced rank is available for senior ECS ship's officers (See Starfleet Operations Order #5)
MACO APPLICATIONS
Basic Entrance Requirement:
Current or prior member of the Military Assault Command Operations branch of the United Earth military

Applications from commissioned MACO officers

Starfleet commissions for MACO officers will be processed for designation as Security Officers of Starfleet Security with equivalent Starfleet rank to their MACO position (See Starfleet Administration Order #17)
