STARFLEET ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
​General enlistments to Starfleet are available to all members of the general public. Starfleet is also accepting officer applications from personnel of the United Earth Space Probe Agency as well as prior service personnel in either the Earth Cargo Service or the Military Assault Command Operations. All Starfleet applicants are required to pass a standard medical examination, qualify for a basic Starfleet security clearance, as well as pass an appropriate entrance examination.​
CREWMAN APPLICATIONS
​General enlistments to the rank of Starfleet Crewman are open to all citizens of the United Earth. Applications for enlistment should be submitted to the Office of Starfleet Administration. Approval for general enlistments are granted by the Director of Starfleet Personnel.

Basic Entrance Requirement:
United Earth citizen greater than 18 years of age with a completed secondary school education.

​Completion of an Associate's Degree or higher at an accredited university

Applicants must pass a standard medical examination, qualify for a basic Starfleet security clearance, and complete the Starfleet Crewman Entrance Test (SCET).
OFFICER APPLICATIONS
Starfleet officer candidates must pass a standard medical examination, qualify for a basic Starfleet security clearance, and complete the Starfleet Officer Aptitude Test (SOAT). There are presently two paths towards a Starfleet officer commission: Prior Service and Direct Appointment. In April 2241, an announcement was made that officer applications would be accepted from the general public by the following year, once civilian entrance procedures had been established to Officer Candidate School.
PRIOR SERVICE
Starfleet officer applications are at present accepted from personnel of the United Earth Space Probe Agency, the Earth Cargo Service or the Military Assault Command Operations. Applications for officer commissions are submitted to the Deputy Chief of Starfleet Operations who further endorsees advanced rank applications for senior prior service personnel to the Chief of Starfleet Operations. ​All Starfleet officer candidates must pass a standard medical examination, qualify for a basic Starfleet security clearance, and complete the Starfleet Officer Aptitude Test (SOAT).
UESPA APPLICATIONS

Basic Entrance Requirement:
Current or prior member of the United Earth Space Probe Agency
​Preferred Requirements
Completion of the Space Flight Certification Course (UESPA Flight School)

Applications will be accepted from all UESPA personnel with preferred applications from senior UESPA personnel as well as personnel who have completed flight school and are qualified to serve or have performed duty onboard UESPA warp capable space vessels.
EARTH CARGO SERVICE

Basic Entrance Requirement:
Active or former officer or crew member of the Earth Cargo Service​

Space Merchant Officer License and/or warp craft pilot certification

MACO APPLICATIONS

Basic Entrance Requirement:
Current or prior member of the Military Assault Command Operations branch of the United Earth military

Applications from commissioned MACO officers

There is presently a special program for MACO officers to transfer to Starfleet Security with equivalent Starfleet rank to their MACO position (See Starfleet Administration Order #17)
DIRECT APPOINTMENTS
Direct appointment commissions were originally the standard method for becoming a Starfleet officer in the first few years of Starfleet's existence. In its formative stage, Starfleet would offer direct commissions to personnel of the United Earth Space Probe Agency after recommendation from UESPA executives to the Chief of Starfleet Operations. As the need arose for warp craft certified pilots and security personnel, direct commissions were also offered to personnel of the Earth Cargo Service and the Military Assault Command Operations.

In November 2139, Starfleet Operations Order #42 suspended direct appointment commissions following the creation of Officer Candidate School. In January 2141, direct appointments were reauthorized under Starfleet Operations Directive #27 for advanced rank personnel who were invited to accept a Starfleet commission by the Chief of Starfleet Operations.
