The Warp Engineer Basic Course is a twenty-four week course designed to provide a basic understanding of the operation of a gravimetric field displacement manifold (warp drive) as well as train engineering officers for the operation of a warp drive and its associated systems in space. The course was first offered in February 2145 in preparation for the commission of Starfleet’s first starship within the following year. Although designed for officer training, the course may be requested by Crewman holding the rate of Engineer’s Mate who also possess an advanced space engineering education.
