Mars

STAR SYSTEM: Sol
ALTERNATE NAME: The Red Planet
FORMAL NAME: Earth Colony Mars
CAPITOL: Mars Colony One
MOONS: Two (Phobos and Deimos)
PREDOMINATE SPECIES

Human
Mars is the fourth planet of the Sol star system and the first planet to be colonized by humans, after the colonization of Earth's satellite Luna.First settled in 2105, the original colony of Mars (known as Mars Colony One) became the seat of colony government following the creation of two additional colonies in 2118 and 2126 respectively. Due to the harsh climate of Mars, all colonies exist as domed settlements with life support gear required for external work in the Mars environment.
Star System Profile

Mars possesses two natural satellites, Phobos and Deimos, however neither is viable for either mining or colonization to their small size. In 2127, a small navigational beacon was placed on the surface of Phobos in order to assist with space traffic into and out of Mars space.
Moons of Mars
In the early 2100s, initial plans were made to begin the terraforming of Mars into an Earth like environment. In 2135, a large comet deflector was constructed, known as the Verteron Array, which was designed to deflect ice comets to Mars in order to release oxygen into the atmosphere. The first comet deflection is presently scheduled for the mid 2240s.
