Vulcan

T’Kuht is a sister world to the planet Vulcan, locked into a tidal orbit causing the planets to circle one another in a very close pattern. T'Kuht has been known since Vulcan antiquity and was named “the Watcher” by ancient Vulcans. T’Kuht is best visible from Vulcan’s Forge, where the planet fills most of the sky.

T’Kuht was first visited by Vulcan spacefarers in 259 BC (Earth Calendar). The planet is covered with active volcanoes and barely habitable, thus it was not until the 15th century in which any sort of permanent settlement was established there. Beginning in the mid seventeenth century, Vulcan seismologists began establishing scientific research stations on T’Kuht to study its volcanos; many such scientific outposts are still operational today. The planet has also been periodically used as a penal colony.

By the twentieth century, a handful of small settlements existed on T’Kuht. Mostly connected to extraction of the planet’s minerals and other raw materials. A geothermic power station was established at T’Kuht’s largest lava geyser in 2107. T’Kuht also hosts a single military outpost of the Vulcan High Command.
