Fomalhaut Colony is the sole planet within the Fomalhaut star system and orbits within a habitable zone bordering the system’s large accretion disk of dust and debris. Due to the large amount of space matter within the system, navigation to Fomalhaut is extremely hazardous, and the planet is rarely visited by transports or cargo vessels.

Fomalhaut Colony was first settled by colonists from the Deltan Union in 1857AD (Earth Calendar). The planet is an arid and mostly barren world, but does contain large mineral deposits, especially in the northern hemisphere. The equator of the planet is generally avoided by settlers due to raging dust storms with winds in excess of 400 kilometers per hour. In the mid-2000s, a small asteroid deflector was established near the colony’s main settlement Terezin, after several meteor strikes had damaged various Deltan structures.
Due to the hazardous nature of navigating within the Fomalhaut star system, the colony world is rarely visited by transport ships and thus has developed an internal infrastructure to keep the colony supplied with energy and food. As of the twenty-second century, in addition to the capitol settlement of Terezin, several additional Deltan outposts have been established throughout the north of the colony with the first southern hemisphere established in 2125.
