Rigel II is a major world of the Beta Rigel system, the second member world of the Rigelian Trade Consortium after the Rigelian homeworld of Rigelia. Then planet hosts several tropical islands along its equator, with two major continents straddling the poles.

The original colonization of Rigel II took place centuries in the past, before Rigelia itself was a united world. For a period of approximately three hundred years, Rigel II and Rigelia were separate political entities which even led to a war in the 16th century. By the 1800s however, the two planets had set aside their differences combined to form the “Rigel Union”.
