Rigel III is a colony world of the Rigelian Trade Consortium which has since been converted into privately owned estates, mostly for wealthy Rigelians and Orions.
The surface of Rigel III
Rigel III was first visited by explorer from Rigelia in the 1600s, using crude and primitive sub-light spaceships. By the 1700s there were several small cities on the surface, however within fifty years most of the planet’s undeveloped land was purchased first by native Rigelians, and, much later, Orion traders. Since then, the planet has become known for its wealth estate lands, and as a retirement community for settlers from Rigelia. Most of Rigel III consists of privately owned land centered upon vast estates which occupy several coastal regions of the planet.
Further inland there are several smaller settlements as well as a few larger cities from which the planet is administrated as a colony of Rigelia. There is little strife or crime, however in more recent years the presence of Orion landowners has caused some issues with criminal elements associated with the Orion Syndicate.
