Archeological evidence indicates Rigelia has been inhabited for at least fifty thousand years; however, fossil records from before that time are fragmentary. This has led to theories that the Rigelians are an ancient offshoot of the Vulcan people, possibly dating back from before Vulcan became a desert world. Due to the significant physical differences between the two species, such a divergence would likely have required genetic engineering by an advanced and ancient spacefaring civilization.
