Rigel V (Rigelia) is the native planet of the Rigelians and the capitol of the Rigelian Trade Consortium. The planet hosts a diverse ecosystem and is home to several billion inhabitants spread across the planet in numerous cities, towns, and communities.

Rigelia lies on a major space lane between the Beta Rigel system and Vulcan, with the native Rigelians sharing several biological and cultural traits with the Vulcan race. This has led to theories of the Rigelians being an ancient offshoot of the Vulcan people, possibly as far back as fifty thousand years before Vulcan was a desert planet. Due to the drastic outward difference in appearance between the two species, such a common divergence would have been engineered by an advanced and ancient spacefaring civilization.
The history of the planet Rigelia is typical of an ancient era, followed by the Rigel Middle Ages, leading into a period of scientific advancement and eventual spaceflight. The last major war on the planet was some seven centuries prior, with planetary unity achieved in the 1600s. The Rigel culture stresses freedom, self-determination, and fairness, but also in the past three hundred years it has focused on economic expansion. By the 20th century Rigelia was a major trade hub, routinely trading with the Vulcans and Orions, as well as several other species from the far Beta Quadrant. The planet itself is considered tranquil and peaceful, with visitors often enjoying the various sights Rigel has to offer, including the visage of the three Rigelian moons.
